Dentist Drama

Took Sammy to the dentist for the 100th time (well, it feels like the 100th time) this month to get cavities filled. The first time was a regular checkup, the second was to fill the cavities but Sam had a meltdown and had to reschedule. Then he only did one that time cause he didn't want to traumatize him. I mean, I do agree with his rationalization but going every week is a pain in the ass for me! Now, after yesterday's trip, he has an abscess on one of his tooth's that is loose and a baby tooth to boot, and we have to go see an oral surgeon to have it pulled. This is the same surgeon that pulled another one and we had to "knock" Sam out and I do have to admit the outcome was funny...he was my little drunken midget!!! Hopefully the tooth will come out on its own in the meantime......

Another article....

This is an article that was in The Berkshire Eagle.

Mount Greylock

Coach: Ray Miro (20th year)

Key returnees: Zach Larabee, Sr. (140), Jay Krutiak, Sr. (145), Josh Hadley, Jr. (130), Colin Dezess, Sr. (215), Zach Bantle, Jr. (171), Dylan Hilchey, Jr. (125), Sean O'Connor, Jr. (140), Dylan Walker, Jr. (152), Anthony Carvalho, Jr. (189), Travis Hilchey, eighth grade (103), Ross Jackson, So. (160), Mitch Graves, So. (145)

Key newcomers: Tom Dezess, Fr. (285), C.J. Lillie, Fr. (119), Ian Shaw, Fr. (125), Connor Hadley, eighth grade (152), Jose Alvarez, Sr. (189), Allison Crews, So. (112)

Three things you should know:

Five of the returnees -- Bantle, Hadley, Dylan Hilchey, Larabee and Walker -- were state qualifiers a year ago. Senior Nicole Clement, Hadley, Krutiak and Larabee will serve as team captains, though Clement will likely miss the season due to a knee injury.

Hadley, Dylan Hilchey and Larabee were second-place finishers at last year's Western Mass. meet. They, along with some newcomers, will be looked upon to pick up where graduation losses Sean Derby-Kilfoyle, Eli Coniglio and John Carvalho left off.

"We knew we had to replace some of them, and one of them was going to be Ross Jackson," Miro said. "He's pretty good. He needs to get battle-tested, because he's been staying behind. He's got tremendous length and leverage."

Though Travis Hilchey is just an eighth grader, he's already a second-year varsity starter at 103. He went 16-10 last season for the Mounties.

Greylock vs. Mt. Everett

Greylock wrestlers top Everett

Updated: 12/16/2010 12:11:23 AM EST
Thursday December 16, 2010
Berkshire Eagle Staff

SHEFFIELD -- Mount Greylock improved to 4-0 in duals this season, winning their first county dual 60-15 over a young Mount Everett squad.
Travis Hilchey (103 pounds), Sean O’Connor (135), Zach Larabee (140), Ross Jackson (160) and Jose Alvarez (215) earned pinfall victories in the dual.

"We got our feet wet and got everybody a chance to wrestle," Greylock coach Ray Miro said. "We came in and had our feet on the ground."

Bradley Lupiani (112) and Kyle Legeyt (189) had the Eagles’ (0-1) non-forfeit wins. Lupiani pinned Allison Crews in 3 minutes, 12 seconds, while Legeyt beat Anthony Carvalho in a 6-3 decision.

"They hung tough," Everett assistant coach Dan Lanoue said. "Bradley wrestled well. We bumped him up; he’s normally 103. Seamus and [Dylan] Hilchey, that was a good match. Hilchey just controlled him the whole match.
"Good win for Kyle, coming down a weight class from last year. [In the] first match of the year, he got a little winded."

The Mounties wrestle eight duals at the two-day Cohoes, N.Y. Duals on Friday and Saturday.

Deflated

The announcement for admissions at Wesleyan are coming out today at 3:00. I woke up all jittery, like Christmas morning. Well, I was deflated quickly. Coach Black called at 7:30. My palms got sweaty and there was a squeak in my voice.....he didn't make early decision. All because of a fucking "C" he got in AP History. How do you keep telling a kid that he has to make this senior year count, too?? He just won't listen to us! Maybe this will be a wake up call for him. Coach Black said he set him up for Early Decision 2 and all he has to do is get his c up to a b and he is in.....the ball is in your court Zak......

Busy

Monday we went to the reception for Zak's scholarship award (almost cried LOL!). Tonight we have a dinner at the high school for the National Honor Society and tomorrow I have to go to a financial aid meeting at the school. Still stalking the mailbox for a letter from Weslyen University....fingers crossed!!!!

Feeling sentimental....

With my hormones all over the place lately it is hard to wonder why my family hasn't kicked me out of the house yet! But the one thing that is happening is I cry. I cry alot. I think about life in general, I cry. I think about my dog and his health (which by the way he is doing great), I cry. But the biggest thing I cry over these days is Zak. He is my first born and he is all grown up now. I'm crying as I type this.....I remember a time when he needed me. When he wanted to spend time with us, when I couldn't wait for the day he would grow up and be independent. Well, that day is here and I can't take it.......

I want life to be like this again....

I want my baby back.............

So proud....

Zak won the John and Abigail Adams Scholarship along with about 20 other students with top placing SAT scores!! I am so proud! So what does this mean you ask? He can go to any Massachusetts State school for 4 years....free. Yes, you heard me correctly. Free. And your second question may be what school?  Well, we are waiting for Wesleyan's "acceptance" letter. Wesleyan is in Conneticut and is ranked the 6th most expensive school and that my friends is Zak's first choice. So, here presents my dilema. Am I going to be happy if he gets into Wesleyan? Of course and I may even be thinner because we will be living on rice and beans! Will I be happy if he doesn't get accepted to Wesleyan? Yes, because my diet will not change because he will attend a state school!! Now the waiting begins, please pass a cookie......

2.  I am thankful for my parents who have been married 50 years!

Family

There is nothing like family. You love them unconditionally, you can ignore them without to many feelings getting hurt and you can disagree with them all together, and then get together for a family function and act like nothing is wrong. Gotta love it.......

slacker.....

yup, that is me....a slacker. I haven't posted in awhile and alot is going on. I'd like to crawl in my bed and disappear for awhile....Nothing major but, Sam severly sprained his ankle during his football game on Sunday, spent 2 hours in the er and he has been on crutches for the week. Do I need to say anything else (I have become his slave...), My BFF had her first chemo treatment, got sick over the weekend but she is holding her own. It is just tiring worrying, you now what I mean? Zak has a new girlfriend, who I kinda know, but I think I am getting formally introduced tonight. Oh joy. Many soccer games have been attended and I am back to volunteering at the school library. I'm tired. So hopefully, thhis week wiil be less busy.....

Wednesday, October 06, 2010

emotional, busy week

One of my best friends has breast cancer. I have accepted that. Now we need to get thru this "treatment" quickly. We went to the "wig" shop saturday and after many trials of brunettes, darks and even blondes, we settled on one that is most like her hair now....that process done. Monday was her first Chemo treatment. She had a long day, trouble getting her iv in her but she finally made it home. Tuesday, she walked with me, cleaned her bathroom, mopped floors, did her typing for work and got up this morning and walked again!!! We are going to call her A-Rod, cause she is like him on steroids!!! But I have a feeling she is going to crash and burn, either today, tomorrow or Friday. She is positive though and I think that may help her. So 1 treatment down, 3 to go.........

Why Oprah, Why??

I just thought for sure that you were going to pick The Help, for your book of choice this month. You let me down. I thought I could enjoy one, just one, of the book picks, but noooo......you picked this:

While I have nothing against this book, I know how you operate Miss O. It will probably be long, drawn out, looking into the human spirit kind of crap. But guess what? You sucked in as usual and I will be buying this book this weekend. Thanks, Oprah. Thanks.

Okay. I just watched the show, I take it back. You did have a couple of books on the list that I have read and loved. Where the heart is...Wally Lamb books...Pillars of the Earth (although I haven't read this one, I'm watching it right now on Netflix and it is fabulous!!). So Oprah, my friend, my love/hate relationship does continue with you..happy reading!

It's official.....

I am a soccer mom!

Who would have ever thought??? Zak had tryouts yesterday and made the Varsity team. He was tired of all the politics that the High school football coaches were dishing out so he decided he was going to have fun his senior year. I guess soccer was on that list of fun. I won't lie, I'm going to miss the football games, the sound of the hitting pads, the smell of the boys after a hard game, but I am starting to look at it from another viewpoint....all my football pictures are the same. Touchdown here, tackle there... and I think soccer will be fun trying to get that perfect photograph. A kick here and a GOAAAAAAAAALLLLL there!!!!!

Wish me luck! :)

Word for the month....

TIRED

This has been such a busy month. Our trip to Disney World was a success!! We drove down to Florida in a rented Town & Country ( I LOVED it!) and there were no fights! It absolutely amazed me.....it was probably the hottest weather we have ever experienced but we managed to keep it together. Then on the way home we stopped in South Carolina to spend the night at Mary's house. We had such a good time....then off the next day for another 14 hour drive home. It was sooo worth it!!!!

Then, one day of rest and my sister and her family were here for two weeks! They also drove, must be the year of the car LOL, so it has been crazy! Football has also started , the Jamboree is next Sunday and school starts that week as well! I have to get on the ball for school supply shopping!! It was a short, hot, fun summer!!!!

Outside my window… The fog is lifting and the sun is coming out.

I am thinking… That I need to go grocery shopping....

I am thankful for… my dog, he walked with us this morning and made it another day...

I am wearing… a hat.

I am remembering… To be kind today.

I am going… grocery shopping, at some point today.

I am currently reading… The Prize winner of Defiance, Ohio

I am hoping… to win the lottery.

On my mind… The other Larabees, they are in Jamaica for Kayli's wedding.

From the learning rooms… Nothing. It's sweet summertime!

Noticing that… my legs are getting in shape from all my walking.

From the kitchen… just made a cup of tea...

Around the house.. needs to be cleaned.

One of my favorite things~ Reading.
