Busy week

What a week! Sam stayed home Monday from school cause I think he had a chocolate hangover from Rylin's Christening on Sunday. Then Tuesday, Christopher came home with an earache, so a quick trip to the doctor and sur' nuf, he has an ear infection! So come Thursday, Sam goes in for his "oral surgery". He had to have a tooth removed cause it wouldn't come out on its own and the dentist thought it might get infected. There is nothing funnier than a doped up 8 year old! The poor kid was so out of it. He kinda looked like me at the last wedding we attended. LOL! Then on to Friday. Christopher is a reporter for the KIDZCONNEXION and his second assignment was to go to the Springfield Museum and report on his day. We had a great time. They took us in to see "Grossology" that isn't opening until today and that made him feel like a hotshot!! We went to lunch at Red Robin...Yummmmm (are you singing the song in your head right now?) and then a quick trip to none other that Barnes and Noble! Christopher shares my passion for the written word.......

We then came home long enogh to change and then run off to Pownal VT. for a Wood Bat Classic game. Some of the 10 year olds got called up being that this is a Holiday weekend and some people go on what is that word? Oh yea, Family vacations! I forgot since it has been so long since I have been on one! Anyway, Christopher made an AWESOME catch and he just floated off the field, I was so proud!!

So they are off already for another game this morning and Zak has one this afternoon. We are also trying to oen the pool, always a pain in the ass, and hopefully get in some boating this weekend.

Whew! Have a great Memorial Day Weekend!!!

Why does this word make the strongest of people go weak, the weakest of people fall apart...the word itself is dreary, scary, devastating, thought provoking. Yes, that is it, Thought provoking! Because Chris had surgery on Friday and it certainly provoked the worst of thoughts from me. You always hear horrror stories about surgeries gone wrong, people dying, ending up in a coma, etc....and I do have quite the imaginative mind so it was thinking all these things! But the one thought that came through loud and clear is that I know I couldn't go on without Chris. I am not this strong person that everyone thinks I am. So, I'm not a woman of many words but I guess this is my love letter to Chris. I would die without you, wither away and become nothing. I love you. Just remember that.

Oh and it was just knee surgery but when you sit in the waiting room for 3 hours drinking iced coffee, it may as well have been a heart transplant. Note to self, no caffine next surgery...

Entertainment News

New America Ferrera film looks at effects of war .

MEXICO CITY – "Ugly Betty" star America Ferrera is hoping her new film will inspire Americans to address the struggles soldiers face after they come home from Iraq or Afghanistan.
The 25-year-old is starring and producing "The Dry Land," which follows a young man's difficulties readapting to small town life following a tour of duty.
Ferrera says the United States "should have an honest discussion about the effects that war has on our society, on the men who come back, on the families that are broken from it."
She said Friday in a phone interview she hopes the film ignites such discussion.
Ryan O'Nan and Melisa Leo also star in the movie, which was written and directed by Ferrera's beau, Ryan Piers Williams

(reported by: Yahoo news)

I just adore her. Ever since I saw her in the movie "Real Women have Curves" she has been my Idol!

Joke of the day

Lipstick in School

According to a news report, a certain private school in Washington was recently faced with a unique problem.
A number of 12-year-old girls were beginning to use lipstick and would put it on in the bathroom.
That was fine, but after they put on their lip stick, they would press their lips to the mirror leaving dozens of little lip prints.
Every night the maintenance man would remove them, and the next day the girls would put them back.
Finally the principal decided that something had to be done. She called all the girls to the bathroom and met them there with the maintenance man.
She explained that all these lip prints were causing a major problem for the custodian who had to clean the mirrors every night .
To demonstrate how difficult it had been to clean the mirrors, she asked the maintenance man to show the girls how much effort was required.
He took out a long-handled squeegee, dipped it in the toilet, and cleaned the mirror with it. Since then, there have been no lip prints on the mirror.

There are teachers .... and then there are educators.
