My "Leo Outlook" for 2010

Year 2010 Overview
Oh, big playful Leo -- how the last couple of years have been dramatic (and often less than kind) for you! There's little doubt that whatever you've gone through in the last year, the uppers have fueled your inherent charm and lovability, and the downers have gotten a little ignored. That's one of the problems with being a Leo: you can be so sunny that no one notices the rainy days. Mars in your sign this spring is going to give you newfound energy and motivation to really get things done your way, and the summer will bring new opportunities to express yourself.

The challenges will be slowly changing from big drama to smaller, more manageable issues. You've probably been too busy taking care of others to really take care of yourself lately, but 2010 marks a new direction in taking yourself seriously, and taking care of yourself with the due diligence and concern you usually reserve for others. Don't think of it as becoming inwardly-focused; think of it as doing the necessary maintenance on yourself so you can do a better job of letting your light shine for others.

Life is going to be taking a turn for the philosophical in the next year. All of the noise and confusion of the last year may have made you neglect your Higher Self; that too should be a part of your personal care regimen. This year is going to provide ample opportunities for you to get caught up on your spiritual homework. And, unlike regular homework, you'll probably feel like there's a point to doing it!

Gearing up for Resolutions

It is that time of year again. And being that it is a well rounded number, 2010, I am really going to work hard at what I choose for myself. Let's go ponder......

Christmas Samisms

Sam jumps on our bed at 6 am Christmas morning. He says, " I just looked at the presents that Santa brought but I know the POORLY wrapped one is from you"

Me: Sam, Meme says that you were a very good boy at Ned's on Christmas.
Sam : Well, that's a first, Huh?

A Tragic Loss......

A friend of mine died last night. I still can't figure this out. I awoke as usual and went to check my email and facebook, to see what my friends were up to for the day and I saw that one of them posted that she couldn't stop crying and she needed her Zen girls (that is what our group of friends is called) I thought, oh no! something happened to one of her boys! So I logged on to Zen to find out that "Shimmy" (Traci) was in an accident and was killed. It hurts to even write that out. She was hit by a train, meeting her fiance.........this hurts.....

I have known Shimmy for many years now. We belonged to a meessage board foe wayward "scrapbookers" and we have a tight knit group of girlfriends. We have had our ups and downs with all of us and when one of the boards broke up, she emailed me daily cause she did not want to lose our friendship. We laughed, shared stories of our kids, shared our favorite book and movies and she turned me on to some different music that she thought I would like. We shared pictures of our dogs, shared recipes and just truly liked each other. She called me "OtherBeth" cause there is another girl on the board named Beth and I always loved that nickname <3. Then she left this board for awhile, life gets in the way and other things but then we found her again on facebook. She always had an encouraging word for everyone and i found her to be a very strong and beautiful woman. The kicker......I have never met her in real life. We are an online community of friends who have been thru alot together. Some of us have met, ohters not. But if you ask anyone of us they will say we may even be closer that IRL friends. I love all my girls on Zen and I know we will get thru this. It is going to be so hard but the love we have for one another will get us thru it. Oh, and I never told Shimmy this but one time she called me and I wasn't home, she left me a message and she had the most adorable voice ever! Traci, I will say a prayer for your son and I know you will be looking out for him and helping him thru his pain. You were the best mom and a great friend. I will miss you dearly.

A girl CAN dream........

We were going up some stairs and then we had to cross a narrow bridge of some sort, he moved to the side so I could get by first, and slowly, oh so slowly he moved closer to my face, so close I could smell his breath and then his lips touched mine ever so gently. He looked at me and then kissed me again. Then the next thing I knew I felt my husband grab my toes and say ''time to get up"......until we meet again tonight George........

Values and Goals for the Holiday season

So, I'm taking this little online class called "Holidays in Hand" and my first assignment is to write or blog my values and goals for this season. Hmmmm.....this may take a few minutes. I know that one of my goals is to be more organized. I am trying because I have started a shopping list for the family and extended members of the family so that is a start. But I have also been fighting with Christopher because he says it is to early but I want to start shopping, he won't write a list out so a fight ensues.....So I guess that comes to Values. What is more important, trying to have an 11 yr old make a list for Santa (who I think doesn't believe anymore,) or spend time with him talking about the books he loves to read or the games he loves to play. So o.k., I get it. Another is that I am going to try and be more forgiving with family and try to reach out to more family members that we really don't connect with.....I am going to try and remember that the holiday season is for love and peace, not fighting or gossiping about others......

Probably cause I was either drunk or hungover.....But what is a "night of drunken debauchery" if it weren't for those pictures....oh, and to the people in the pool area. I'm sorry I acted like a sex crazed teenager....but boy did I have fun!!!!

After the Pool....

I am always the one who cannot stand to change anything. I like the way things are and my motto has always been, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". But I see now that I do need to change. I need to change my eating habits, I need to change my cleaning habits, I need to change some of my "friends" and I need to change my underwear!!

Busy weekend

Chris and I celebrated our 12th anniversary this weekend. No, it was not spent in a fancy restaurant, nor on a cruise ship. It was not spent in a luxurious hotel or spa. We spent our anniversary in the quaint city of North Adams but more specifically, in the er at North Adams regional Hospital. There was a man with a nail in his thumb, people coughing everywhere (swine flu mass hysteria) and our favorite little crack head, we'll call her beehive cause that is the only way I can desribe her hairdo. I have to say she did keep us entertained. But seriously, Christopher got hurt in a football game so as a precaution we took him in. He is fine and we have piece of mind. Although I probably could have saved us 3 hours cause when we walked out of the game, he wanted pizza. I don't think that people with head trauma usually ask for pizza on the way to the er......just saying.....

Friday Funny

A man is walking home alone late one foggy Halloween night, when behind him he hears:

Walking faster, he looks back and through the fog he makes out the image of an upright casket banging its way down the middle of the street toward him.

Terrified, the man begins to run toward his home, the casket bouncing quickly behind him.

He runs up to his door, fumbles with his keys, opens the door, rushes in, slams and locks the door behind him. However, the casket crashes through his door, with the lid of the casket clapping.

on his heels, as the terrified man runs.

Rushing upstairs to the bathroom, he locks himself in. His heart is pounding; his head is reeling; his breath is coming in sobbing gasps.

With a loud CRASH the casket breaks down the door.

Bumping and clapping toward him.

The man screams and reaches for something, anything, but all he can find is a bottle of cough syrup! Desperate, he throws the cough syrup at the casket...

(hopefully you're ready for this!!!)

The coffin stops

Friday Funny on Saturday!

A New Zealand farmer walks into the bedroom carrying a sheep in his arms and
says, "Honey, this is the cow I make love to when you have a headache."

The wife, lying in the bed reading a book, looks up and says, "If you weren't such
an idiot, you'd know that's a sheep, not a cow."

The guy replies, "If you weren't such a presumptuous bitch, you'd realize I was
talking to the sheep."

Friday Funny

A man is driving along a highway
and sees a rabbit jump out
across the middle of the road.
He swerves to avoid hitting it,
but unfortunately the rabbit
jumps right in front of the car.

The driver, a sensitive man
as well as an animal lover,
pulls over and gets out to see
what has become of the rabbit.

Much to his dismay,
the rabbit is dead.

The driver feels so awful
that he begins to cry.

A beautiful blonde woman
driving down the highway
sees a man crying on the
side of the road and pulls over.

She steps out of the car and
asks the man what's wrong.

"I feel terrible," he explains,
"I accidentally hit this rabbit
and killed it!"

The blonde says,
"Don't worry."

She runs to her car
and pulls out a spray can.

She walks over to the limp, dead rabbit,
bends down, and sprays the contents
onto the rabbit.

The rabbit jumps up, waves
its paw at the two of them
and hops off down the road.

Ten feet away the rabbit stops,
turns around and waves again,
he hops down the road another 10 feet,
turns and waves, hops another ten feet, turns and waves,
and repeats this again and again and again,
until he hops out of sight.

The man is astonished.

He runs over to the woman and demands,
"What is in that can?
What did you spray on that rabbit?"

The woman turns the can around
so that the man can read the label.

It says...

(Are you ready for this?)

(Are you sure?)

(You know you're gonna be sorry)

(Last chance)

(OK, here it is)

It says,

"Hair Spray -
Restores life to dead hair,
and adds permanent wave."

At a Senior Citizen's luncheon, an elderly
gentleman and an elderly lady
struck up a conversation and discovered that
they both loved to fish.

Since both of them were widowed,
they decided to go fishing together the next day.!

The gentleman picked the lady up, they rented a boat and headed to the
river to start out on their adventure.

They were riding down the river when there was a
fork in the river, and the gentleman asked the lady,

'Do you want to go up or down?'

All of a sudden the lady stripped off her shirt
and pants and made mad passionate love to the man
right there in the boat !

When they finished, the man couldn't believe
what had just happened, but he had just experienced the best sex
that he'd had in years.

They fished for a while and continued on down the
river, when soon they came upon another fork in the

He again asked the lady, 'Up or down ?'

There she went again, stripped off her clothes,
and made wild passionate love to him again.

This really impressed the elderly gentleman, so
he asked her to go fishing again the next day.

She said yes and there they were the next day,
riding in the boat when they came upon the fork in
river! , and the elderly gentleman asked, 'Up or down ?'

The woman replied, 'Down.'

A little puzzled and disappointed, the gentleman
guided the boat down the river when he came upon
another fork in the river and he asked the
lady,'Up or down?'

She replied, 'Up.'

This really confused the gentleman so he asked,

'What's the deal? Yesterday, every time I asked
you if you wanted to go up or down you made mad
passionate love to me. Now today, nothing!'

She replied, 'Well, yesterday I wasn't wearing
my hearing aid and I thought the choices were
fuck or drown.'

I'm tired and emotionally drained.

A smile for your day

A salesman goes up to a house and knocks on the front door. It's opened by a little fifteen year-old boy who has a lighted cigar in one hand, a glass of whiskey in the other and a Penthouse magazine tucked under his arm.

Salesman: "Hello son. Is your mom or dad home?"

Little boy: "What the fuck do you think?"

A little lesson on recycling

Here's a little something to help you put the current economic situation into perspective:

- If you had purchased $1,000. of AIG stock one year ago, you would have $42 left. With Lehman Brothers, you would have $6.60 left. With Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac, you would have less than $5.00 left.

BUT - if you had purchased $1,000 worth of beer one year ago, drank all of the beer, then turned in the cans for the aluminum recycling Refund, you would have $214.00.

Based on the above, the best current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

It's called The 401-Keg.

Chris went fishing the other night and the kids and I were bored so Sam helped me make these "pudding Cookies". He chose to put in the white chocolate chips. They were yummy but a little on the sweet side, but I say what the hell, a cookie needs a little "sweet".....and I also "halved" the recipe cause I like a good cookie but my body, not so much..........

4 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
2 t. baking soda
1-1/2 c butter (3 sticks) softened
1-1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
1/2 c. white sugar
2 (3.4 oz.) pkgs. instant vanilla pudding
4 eggs, room temp
2 t. vanilla extract
4 c. of add-ins you want to use like chocolate/butterscotch/peanut butter/white chocolate chips, candy bars, m&m's, nuts, etc.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Stir together flour and baking soda in seperate bowl and set aside; in a large bowl, cream butter, brown and white sugar. Beat in pudding mix until well blended. Stir in the eggs and vanilla. When smooth, slowly add in the flour mixture. This can take a little while, but make sure it's well incorporated into mix.

Finally, add the "fillers". Make 1 inch balls. Line your cookie sheets with parchment paper and bake for 8-12 minutes or until golden.

Makes about 8 dozen

Our Terrible, Horrible, no Good, very bad Vacation

the boys playing at UMASS

Quincy Market

Duck Tour

This may not seem like big deal things but when they all come together in a 72 hour period, it is stressful (especially with a 16,10 and 8 year olds... )

Let's see......we booked the hotel specifically for a pool for the boys, we get there, pool closed for renovations. We asked for a cot at 1:30pm because there are 5 of us, we got it at 12:00am. There was noone in the room next to us, yet the alarm went off at 5:00 am every morning and it was LOUD! The toilet got plugged up and almost overflowed and... we had to have a man come up and fix it. And the maid left us one bath towel, again, there are 5 of us Not to mention the traffic and we kept getting times!! NOT! There were some highlights like the Duck tour was fun and the waitress at Dick's......Let's just say I was never happier to leave a hotel or city in my life!!!

Oh and Zak won his first match on Friday at the BayState Games for wrestling but it was downhill after that.

As a friend of mine said, if you were looking at the pictures, we looked like we had a good time, but looks are deceiving.....but we do laugh. Now.
